Whats a WaterWik?

The WaterWik is a simple, self-watering system designed to keep your plants hydrated effortlessly. It uses a specially designed wick that draws water from a reservoir into the soil, delivering consistent moisture to your plants as they need it. Just position one end of the wick in the pot and the other in a water source, and let it do the rest! Perfect for busy plant lovers or frequent travelers, the WaterWik ensures your plants stay happy and healthy with minimal effort.

  • Step 1

Wet the entire wick by running it under water. Make sure the wick is wet inside the tube as well.

  • Step 2

Carefully remove your plant from its pot, leaving some soil attached to the roots. Wrap the damp wick around the base of the roots or the bottom of the pot.

  • Step 3

Return the plant to its pot, ensuring the shorter end of the wick remains inside.Place the other end of the wick into a water container and water your plant thoroughly.

FAQ's

What do I do if my plant is too wet or too dry?

🌿 If your plant is too wet:

  • Adjust the Wick: Reduce the amount of wick in the soil by gently pulling some of it down into the water reservoir. This will decrease the moisture reaching your plant.
  • Let It Dry: Temporarily remove the wick and allow the soil to dry out before reconnecting the system.

🌿 If your plant is too dry:

  • Add More Wick: You’ll need to repot your plant and add more wick into the soil. This increases water absorption to keep the soil evenly moist.
  • Check the Setup: Ensure the wick is fully saturated and correctly placed for optimal water flow.

Adjusting the wick length is key to balancing your plant’s hydration needs!

What do I do if the rope dries out?

If the Water Wik rope dries out, don’t worry—it’s an easy fix!

  1. Rehydrate the Rope: Soak the rope in water for a few minutes until it’s fully saturated.
  2. Reposition the Rope: Ensure the rope is properly placed in both the water source and the soil, with good contact on both ends.
  3. Top Up the Water Source: Check that your water reservoir isn’t empty—keep it filled to maintain consistent hydration.

Your Water Wik will be back to keeping your plants happy and hydrated in no time!

Does it matter which end goes in the pot vs plant?

Nope! It doesn’t matter which end goes where, as long as one end of the Water Wik is in the soil and the other is in the water.

The rope works the same either way, drawing water from the reservoir to keep your plants perfectly hydrated. Just ensure both ends are securely in place, and you’re good to go!

Can I add fertiliser to the water vessel?

We do not recommend this for several reasons:

1. Water-Soluble Fertilizers: These are typically designed to be applied in specific amounts at specific times, not continuously.
2. Microbiome Sensitivity: Many fertilizers contain live microbiomes that can degrade if exposed to UV light.
3. Bacteria Build-Up: Fertilizer in the water reservoir can encourage unhealthy germs and bacteria to grow, which could harm your plants.

Instead, here’s what we recommend:

🌿 Flush and Feed: First, top-water your plant thoroughly until water starts draining out of the bottom. Let it drip off, then apply your fertilizer solution according to the product instructions. Repeat this process every 1–2 weeks or as recommended by your fertilizer.

🌿 Slow-Release Fertilizer: For a low-maintenance option, mix a slow-release fertilizer into the soil. This provides consistent nutrients without disrupting the self-watering system.

This way, you’ll keep your plants healthy, happy, and thriving!

Will the pipe rust?

No, the pipe used in the Water Wik system will not rust! 🌿✨

The pipes are made from aluminum, which is naturally resistant to rust and corrosion. This ensures long-lasting durability and reliable performance for keeping your plants hydrated. 💧

So, you can enjoy worry-free plant care without any concerns about rust! 🌱

I forgot to wet the cord before planting, will it work?

Unfortunately, probably not. If the wick isn't already wet before planting, it will take much longer for it to absorb water and start transferring it to the plant. This delay can lead to your plant not getting enough moisture right away.

For the best results, make sure the wick is fully saturated before you place it in the soil. This helps ensure a smooth and efficient water transfer! 🌿💧
